CHAPTER 25
After his researchers left, John reached out to touch the sphere, focusing to see if he could communicate with Rebya. It took some work, but he did manage it and spent a little bit of time talking with her about the management of the valley and the surrounding mountains. She had made an executive decision, and almost everyone had been moved out of the valley itself and into the mountain cities. This was to reclaim more land for cultivation, and slowly but surely the entire valley was transforming into one big farm.
With all of that taken care of, John turned his attention to his next task, the lecture. He had no idea what he should lecture on but figured, like Foyrath had said, that it would simply be enough for him to stand up in front of people and talk for a little bit. After all, it had been a long time since Candle Scholar Tower had a supreme Mage.

Leaving the tower and the city that surrounded it, he began to stroll through the outskirts of the tower, where all of the food production fields lay. He had often seen the fields from his window, but this was the first time he had actually walked through them, and he was amazed by what he saw.
Some of the fields were being planted, others were in the middle of growing, and still others were being harvested. Curious about how this was possible, John walked over to one of the foremen, who was leaning on the fence, watching as laborers cut wheat in the fields.
âExcuse me,â John said. The foreman hadnât noticed John approaching and jumped when he heard his voice.
âWhoa, you canât be sneaking up on people like that,â he said.
âMy apologies. I just had a question about the fields.â Only now realizing that he was talking to a Mage, the farmer quickly bowed, or at least tried to. Before he could, John held up his hand and the farmer found it impossible to bend over.
âNone of that,â John said. âLike I said, I just have a question about the fields.â
âYes, sir. Happy to answer however I can, sir.â
âTell me, why is it that some of
